Profile of Waleed..
Waleed Bata is a 16 year old Nasheed
singer/songwriter.
Born in the small town of Klerksdorp, Waleed
always had a firm interest and passion for listening and singing Nasheed.
After moving to Johannesburg his love for
Nasheed continued to grow.
In September of 2010 Waleed wrote his first
Nasheed "He Is The Greatest" which has grown in popularity since he recorded a
demo with Qari Ziyaad Patel which is on YouTube for viewing and has been re-done
for his Debut Album "A Light Upon The Earth" which is set for release come May
2012.
Recording for "A Light Upon The Earth" began
in March 2011 with Waleed describing this opportunity as "A Dream come true" ,
his Debut Album has been recorded with well-known producer Jeremy Karodia.
8 of the 11 songs on the Album have been
written by Waleed, one of the Nasheeds, Muhammed(SAW) was co-written with Ahmed
Pahad.
The Album features 3 languages namely
English, Arabic and Urdu.
The Urdu Nasheed "Pyaari Ma" was given to
Waleed by a lady by the name of Aneesah Chavoos who first held the rights to the
song.
Featured on the Album is a close friend of
Waleeds, brother Muhammad Uwais Essack who has been given his big break on the
Nasheed "Salaatullah" which has been worked on by the two who have given a new
twist to this beautiful Nasheed.
Waleed has performed at many events. His
first big break came at the Eid Festival hosted at the Coca Cola Dome in
Johannesburg in July 2011 with renowned artists, National and International,
Namely "Waahid, Muhammed Sader, Rashid Bhikha, Sheikh Idris Rajab(All Of South
Africa) Also Muhammad Ali Haider and Junaid Jamshed(Of Pakistan)"
From that he went on to perform at the Souk
in Durban in December of 2011/January 2012, there he performed with the likes of
"Waahid, Zain Bhikha, Hussein Kalla, Muhammed Sader, Sheikh Idris Rajab, Moulana
Ishaaq Osman among others(All Of South Africa) and International artists
Muhammad Milad Raza Qadri(Scotland) and UNIC (Malaysia).
Waleed's hopes for the future are to Inspire
youth to go ahead with their dreams and for his Nasheed to inspire people around
the world with the words and melodies he has put his work, much dedication and
time into.
